Book in December for January
If you know in early December that your team is starting a new project in mid-January, book accommodation immediately. Waiting until 2 January means competing with everyone else who also waited.
Reserve buffer beds
January mobilisations often grow — what starts as a 4-person crew becomes 6 by week 3. Book the bigger property up-front rather than scrambling to add accommodation for the extras.
Expect 3-4 day lead times
In the first two weeks of January, accommodation suppliers are quoting on volumes 3× normal. Don't expect a 2-hour quote response. Plan for 24-48 hours and don't panic if it takes a working day.
